Middle School Language Arts education covers the skills involving reading, writing, speaking, listening, and viewing. Individual classes focus on reading comprehension and fluency, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, writing processes, speech, poetry, and research. Each grade level reviews previous learning and builds upon that learning to further develop and become proficient readers, purposeful writers, critical thinkers, and effective communicators. A variety of texts are used including fiction and non-fiction novels, short stories, poetry, and vocabulary workshop books.
