Hi! My name is Joni Primus. I’ve been teaching in Catholic schools for over 35 years. I love teaching first grade. I like to see the children become independent learners. I love seeing the light in their eyes when they learn something new. I enjoy seeing the progress the students make in language arts; they start off with letter sounds and decoding small words and leave first grade able to read chapter books. I am glad that I am able to teach the whole child, working on the spiritual as well as academics. I teach religion, language arts, math, handwriting, and art. I teach science classes for both first grade classes while my colleague teaches social studies. We have specialist for music, phy-ed, library, and computer classes.
Hello! My name is Kayla Brisk and I teach 1st grade at Mary of Lourdes. I grew up on a family farm near Pierz. Growing up I attended a Catholic elementary school as a child. I feel very fortunate to be able to teach in a Catholic school and help provide students with the same experience I was blessed to receive when I was a child. This is my third year teaching and my first year at Mary of Lourdes. I love seeing the excitement the students have everyday for learning at Mary of Lourdes! I love being a part of Mary of Lourdes and seeing the dedication of the families and staff to help the children grow and learn about God!
