Religion Our text tells the story of the resurrection of Jesus.  We will also hear the stories of when the apostles saw the risen Christ but did not know it was Jesus.  Our discussions will have us identify things that help us know Jesus. Math The whole class did an awesome job adding two 2 digit numbers.  Our next chapter is on measurement.  We will have fun estimating and measuring items with non-standard and standard units. Social Studies This last unit on how and what Americans celebrate has a final take home assignment.  Look for this to come home on Thursday. Language Arts There are two more reading books for first grade.  In our new book we will read A Real Gift and Arthur's Reading Race.  We will find words that have an "ed" ending and decide if the final consonant was doubled before the ending was added. Rice Bowl A heart felt thank you for the contributions to the Rice Bowl.  Our school brought in over $600 that will be used to sponsor the education of a child in Guatemala. Earth Day On Friday we will enjoy entertainment with the Earth Day theme.  We will also do an art activity. Talking About Touch April is Child Abuse Prevention month and I will use this curriculum to go over personal safety strategies this weel and next. Birthday Kristen Athmann has a birthday this weekend and we will celebrate it on Friday.  Happy Birthday to you, Kristen!
